Owen speak

We continue to be amazed as Owen learns to navigate the spoken word, learning new words and phrases everyday and practicing how they fit in his world. He truly is a little sponge, soaking it all in... for better or worse.

There are still some words that get lost in translation, so here's a little 'cheat sheet':

"Old MacDonalds" = McDonald's

"last day" = yesterday, last week, last month, last year...

"God book" = Bible

"DeeBeeDeeBee" = DVD

"wear my tummy" = going shirtless

"granola" = vanilla

"Amen" = The End

Dinosaur museum

We made a trip to the DC Natural History Museum to check out the dinosaurs. Owen is a big fan and loved seeing all his favorites, especially the T-Rex!

Grace was most interested in the snacks.

Grace's latest trick!

11 months

Gracie K is 11 months! This month she has learned to clap, kiss (the air), pull herself up, and show us she's "so big!" Grace loves pancakes, cheese, yogurt, wind instruments, emptying drawers, rolling a ball for "catch" and hates socks. We love seeing more and more of her personality coming out!

First celeb!

Today we headed into DC for Grace to meet her first celebrity- Ben Affleck! Ben was in town to testify at Pop's hearing on human rights in the DR Congo. Obviously we couldn't attend the hearing, but we did take advantage of the opportunity to meet him! Well, Grace and I did...

Owen refused to join us for a picture. And when Mr. Ben sat down next to him to try again, Owen couldn't get away fast enough!

Regardless of the diss, Ben was very friendly, nice and TALL, and we had fun meeting him!

We also had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Cindy McCain, who was very sweet and whom Grace was particularly fond of staring at.

What a neat day!

Boot Scoot

Gracie is an accomplished crawler but often prefers to "boot scoot". Maybe because it gives her knees a break and frees up her hands to grab big brother's toys?! Here's a video of our little scooter (and her fireman bro) in action--
